Punjab ( North India )
Name of Punjab has been derived from two words of Persian language i.e. PanchAab. 'Panch' means five and 'aab' means water. Punjab is land of five rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Vyas, and Sutlaj. Punjab is incomparable in regard to historical valour and natural grace. Land of Punjab is renowned not only for its valour, bravery, green revolution, role in transportation field but also its folk songs and folk dances all over India. Bhangra dance of Punjab is world famous, without which no dance function evokes enthusiasm and emotions. State of Haryana came into existence after the partitions from Punjab. The brother city of Chandigarh is capital of both these cities and also a Central Government administered territory.
Punjab University :has some notable buildings. Gandhi Bhawan, has been built in a huge pond whose reflection in water produces manifold splendor. The fine Arts museum, built in red sand stone, is a single storyed glorious building and student center. It is unique spindle shaped creation.
Fateh Garh Sahib : located near Chandigarh and 50km north of Patiala, is a great pilgrimage place for Sikhs,The main Gurudwara refreshes the memory of martyrdom of sons of 10th Guru Gobind Singh ji namely Jorawar Singh (9 years) and Fateh Singh(7 years) who were buried alive in the wall. In the neighbor, there is turret of Mata Gujriji, grandmother of these two martyrs, who could not stand theshock of their martyrdom. Nearby, there is GurudwaraJyoti-Swaroop, where the last rites these three were performed.
