Famous by the name of Pink City or Gulabi Nagar, Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan. Really, it is a rose city, where sprinkling beauty, the edifices, big havelis and stupendous sky-touching forts attract the tourists immensely. Sawai Jai Singh II founded the city in 1727 AD. This is the only city in the world which has been divided from the point of view of astrology. Its nine rectangular sectors represent nine levels of universe. A boundary wall with eight gates surrounds the city. There are lot of tourist attractions.
City Palace:City Palace is a splendid artwork of Mughal and Rajput architecture. Seven storeys were built by Sawai Jai Singh II with the fine carving on the marble. Outer portions possess marvellous attraction. The Mubarak Mahal, Shahi Museum, Suleh Khana (armoury section), Ganesh Pole, Deewan -E Khas, Diwan-E -Aam are worth to be seen.
Chandra Mahal: Chandra Mahal comprises Pritam Niwas, Sukh Niwas, Dara Mandir, Shobha Niwas, Chhavi Niwas, Mukut Niwas and Krishna Dwar are among the most charming places.
Hawa Mahal: Hawa Mahal is a live specimen of architectural art. It is a five storeyed pyramid shaped edifice with a chain of arched balconies hanging outside on each other with semi-domes overhead and front covering with sculptured fine screen and small window- hole on lower- central portion. There are 3,953 such balconies and windows through which free flow of wind is experienced.
Albert Hall: Albert Hall, a museum, houses marvellous pieces of sculptures, paintings with a specialty of collections from natural history.
Gaitor: Gaitor (8 kms) is the place where the chhatris - cenotaphs built with white marble are worth viewing. Being a cremation place of Maharajas of Jaipur, it has always been a centre of attraction among tourists.
Jal Mahal : Jal Mahal is situated in the centre of Man Sagar Lake. Raja Pratap Singh built this palace for the purpose of holiday resort during the summers.
Amber Fort & Palace: Amber Fort is the biggest fort of Rajasthan. Its grandeur, scale, architecture and strategic location are probably unmatched. Amber was the former capital of Jaipur State which was founded on a hill and on the bank of Maouta Lake. Raja Man Singh laid its foundation but got completed by Mirza Raja Jai Singh. At the entrance, a beautiful idol of Lord Ganesha is located and close to the entrance, there is a temple of linear deity ShitlaMata. The Ganesh Pole, Sheesh Mahal, Suhag Mandir, Jai Mandir and Jas Mandir are very attractive. One can enjoy a ride to the Amber Fort on caparisoned elephants.
Jaigarh Fort: Jaigarh Fort, (15 kms from Jaipur), stands on a hill top, was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh in 1720 AD. The biggest cannon of the world can be seen here.
Nahargarh Fort: Nahargarh Fort, famous by the name of Tiger Fort, was founded on a mountain on the elevation of 600 feet. This fort was built for the purpose of security of the city in 1739AD. A splendid bird's eye view of the city can be enjoyed from here.
Samod Palace: Samode Palace, built on the road towards Shekhawati, is famous for more than 300 years old wall paintings. The garden of Samode is 400 years old.
Moreover, on the top of hill is Moti Dungri, Birla Temple, the Dome and Temple of Maharani, Dolls Museum, the garden of Sisodia Rani, the garden of Vidyadhar, Jain Temples of Sangner are some other worth visiting place.
Birla Temple: Birla Temple, one of the major attractions of Jaipur, is built inpure white marble. While brightly lit in the night, the Birla Temple of Jaipurlooks stunning. The enormous temple, built during the year 1988, is dedicatedto Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi. Due to this reason, Birla Temple is alsoknown as Laxmi Narayan Temple. The Birla Mandir is situated at the footsteps ofrenowned Moti Dungri Fort. The three huge domes of the temple represent threedifferent approaches to the religion. The beautiful white marble temple mesmerizesthe onlookers, when it glows at night. The windows glasses of the temple depictscenes from Hindu Mythology. The idols of Lord Ganesha, a masterpiece whichlooks almost transparent, Lord Vishnu and Godess Lakshmi are made out from onepiece of marble. The temple also portrays great saints like Socrates,Zarathustra, Christ, Buddha, and Confucius. This modern architectural marvel issurrounded by green gardens. The exteriors and interiors are carved withbeautiful sculptures based of mythological themes.
