char Dham (Uttarakhand)
Situated amidst mountain ranges of Himalaya are Char Dham, four pilgrim centers which are considered highly sacred by innumerable Hindu devotees. Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath remain the constant source of faith and inspiration from time immemorial. For centuries the group of devotees passing through tough terrains reach these religious places in search of divine knowledge and fulillment of their desires and aspirations. Sacred Ganga is an integral part of supreme devotion of these sacred pilgrim places. According to traditions, the journey to Char Dham is performed from west to east direction that is starting from Yamunotri to Gangotri, Kedarnath and concludes at Badrinath. For Yamunotri and Kedarnath, one has to walk on foot for some distance while Gangotri and Badrinath are connected with comfortable motor routes.
