Lansdowne, one of the most peaceful hill stations of India, is situated at a height of 5597 m above sea level and is in Pauri-Garhwal, 42km from Kotdwar. It is also the main office of Garhwal regiment. On the way, the water of mountain stream is so clear that stones and pebbles lying at the bottom of the stream, can be seen from the bus moving up the hill. Its pure water has the wonderful power of digestion.
Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple, located on the road to Kotdwar, is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Tarkeshwar is regarded as one of ancient 'Shaktipeeths'.
Durga Devi Temple, situated on the bank of Khoh river, is four meter inside a cave. Inside, down below, there is a Shiva Ling.
Jwaladevi Temple is situated on Lansdowne-Pauri road at a distance of 10 minute walk on the bank of river Navalika. It is a belief that all wishes are fulfilled here.
Kanvashram : According to ancient belief, great seer Vishwamitra performed severe penance here, so that Indra, the king of gods, got afraid of losing his throne. Here Shakuntala gave birth to Bharat, after whom our country was named Bharatvarsh. It is situated at a distance of 14 km from Kotdwar.
