Yamunotri is the first camp of Char Dham. Yamnotri Dham is situated on the point of origin of river Yamuna near Kalind mountain. Yamnotri remained the place of penance for saints and monks. The travel route to Yamunotri is studded with extremely spectacular and charming scenery.
Yamunotri Temple was constructed in 1919 by Jaipur royal dynasty. The idol of Yamuna has been consecrated in it. This place is replete with high mountains, snowy water- falls and divine natural charm.
Suryakund is near Yamunotri temple. It is the main source of hot water. In its boiling water, the devotees cook rice and potatoes for offering to goddess.
Janki Chatti is the main halting place on the way to Yamunotri. There is suitable arrangement for staying and meals.
Hanuman Chatti, the confluence place of river Hanuman Ganga and Yamuna, is the second camp on the way to Yamunotri. From here, journey starts on foot. Natural beauty can be enjoyed to its fullest extent here.
Syana Chatti is a charming place on the bank of river Yamuna, where staying and meal facility is available. In addition, an ancient temple at Barkot is also worth visiting. Mountaineering, skiing and trekking can be done here also.
