After early morning breakfast, proceed to Alleppey. Arrive at Alleppey, board a house boat before lunch. Have lunch on board the houseboat.

Alleppey deserves to be called as the Venice of the East, with its intricate network of canals, backwaters and bridges. Alleppey, sandwiched between the Arabian Sea and the Punnamada backwaters on Kerala's southern coast, can be characterized as "life in slow motion". This commercial town built along the Vembanad Lake combines the charms of network of backwater canals with lush Kerala country side. Drift through the backwaters of Alleppey slowly, leisurely and languidly on a traditional Kettuvalam, the traditional rice boat -turned- houseboat, and forget the trials and tribulations of modern life in crowded cities. Alleppey is the heart of backwaters and it naturally known for its snake boat racing events. The most popular event is the Nehru Trophy Boat Race which is organised on the second Saturday of August every year. These boats are unique creations rowed by 120 oarsmen.

Vembanad Lake is second largest wetland in India and the largest tropical wetland ecosystem and the region adjoining Vembanad Lake is the "rice bowl of Kerala". A nice example of eco tourism is blessed with very high footfalls of tourists. Tourists relish scenes like colourfully dressed women planting rice in the paddy fields, aged people languidly bathing in the shallow water, sun-tanned crew tossing nets into water while plying the traditional fishing boats, coconut palms on the fringes in every direction.

Back on land, Kayaloram (Lake Shore) is an enchanting resort on the banks of the Vembanad Lake. Vembanad Lake is the biggest water-body of Kerala. It is an ideal gateway from the maddening crowds of everyday life. This famous resort is merely fifteen minutes boat-ride away from the jetty in Alleppey town. For those in search of peace and tranquility, Alleppey and "Kayaloram" offer a refreshing interlude. The Mullackal Bhagawathi temple in the heart of the town is a popular place of worship.
