Bikaner ( Rajasthan, North India )

Situated at northwest of Rajasthan and to the north corner of desert triangle, Bikaner is named after Rao Bika, the son of Rao Jodha. The walls of this city, jaharokhas of havelis and wooden carvings in the city are very attractive. Bikaner had been established by Maharaja Ganga Singh in 1927-28 AD which has been developed due to the Ganga Canal, which enabled the conversion of barren lands into cultivable land.   • Junagarh Fort

    Junagarh Fort was founded by Maharaja Raisingh in 1558 AD. The fort consists of palaces, temples and havelis which are famous for their exquisiteness and beauty. Joramal temple, Har temple, Anoop Mahal, Phool Mahal, Rang Mahal, Chandra Mahal and Vijay Mahal are located in its surroundings. Chandra Mahal and Phool Mahal are decorated with carvings, paintings and mirrors. Paintings of Mughal art placed at the interior roofs and mehrabs of Karna Mahal is worth seeing. Old museum situated in the fort has royal dressings, family photographs, pieces of art and sculptures.

  • Lalgarh Fort & Sardul Museum

    Lalgarh Fort & Sardul Museum have been built up with red-sand rocks with interior decoration and carvings that attract the tourists. Situated inside the Fort, Sardul Museum has old maps, photographs and royal antiques. The palace remains closed on Wednesday and the museum on Sunday.

  • Bhand Sagar

    Bhand Sagar: is having extremely beautiful Hindu and Jain temples on its embankment, which are famous for the marvellous carvings and miniatures.

  • Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary

    Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary : (30 kms away from Bikaner), situated on Jaisalmer road, now a part of heritage palace hotel, was a private preserve which once provided the royal family for game. This brider's paradise is also a habitat for wildlife like chinkaras, nilgai, wild boar, black buck and many other aquatic animals. Gajner Palace, made up of red stone, near a beautiful lake, has been converted into a heritage hotel.

  • Ganga Gold Museum

    Ganga Gold Museum houses the wonderful collections of antique items of Harrapan civilization and pre- Gupta reign. There are different departments for art- sculpture and paintings, old Rajput arms and ammunitions, carpets and coins

  • Karni Mata Temple

    Karni Mata Temple (RAT TEMPLE) located at Deshnok (32 kms from Bikaner), was built by Maharaja Suraj Singh where the fabulous carvings of white marble are worth seeing. Seated statue in this temple is being worshipped as an avatar of Durga Mata. There are hundreds of rats wandering hither and thither. It is said that the soul of Mata is placed in them. This temple has a distinctive place in Indian tourism.
